    Belvoir Castle liegt auf einem Hügel, der sich über das Tal von Belvoir erhebt, und bietet viele Kilometer weite Sicht auf North Leicestershire.

    Das Haus ist seit fast tausend Jahren das Stammhaus der Herzöge von Rutland mit der Familie, die in Belvoir lebt. Das Land war ein Geschenk von Wilhelm dem Eroberer an einen seiner normalen Barone, der für ihn in der Schlacht von Hastings 1066 kämpfte. Das Haus und die Gärten können mit einem Café besucht werden, um eine Pause einzulegen.

    Das Schloss diente unter anderem als Filmkulisse.
    In dem Film "Der kleine Lord" stellte das Gebäude das Schloss des Geschlechts von Dorincourt dar.
    Im Film "The Da Vinci Code – Sakrileg" stellte Belvoir Castle die Sommerresidenz des Papstes Castel Gandolfo dar und für "Das Geisterschloss" wurde das Schloss ebenfalls als Kulisse genutzt.
    Das denkmalgeschützte Schloss ist auch für Besucher geöffnet. Die Räume beherbergen bedeutende Kunstwerke.
