Thunder Hole ist eine der beliebtesten Attraktionen von Acadia und das Parken kann im Sommer schwierig sein; es wird empfohlen, nach Möglichkeit den Island Explorer Park Loop-Bus zu nutzen. Besucher auf der untersten Zuschauerebene können Spritzer abbekommen, und aus Sicherheitsgründen ist es zwingend erforderlich, dass alle Besucher in den ausgewiesenen Bereichen bleiben.

    An einem sonnigen Tag Anfang Juni kamen wir am Thunder Hole vorbei, als wir auf einer Rundwanderung vom ‘Sand Beach‘ über ‘The Beehive‘ und den ‘Gorham Mountain‘ zum ‘Otter Point‘ entlang des ‘Ocean Path‘ zurückgingen. Das Meer war ruhig und es gab keine Anzeichen von baldigem Gezeitenwechsel. Da wir keine zwei Stunden warten wollten, verpassten wir das Spektakel, das Getöse und die hohen Wellen an der Meeresklippe.
