Es wurde immer davon ausgegangen, dass die Mühle 1783 gebaut wurde, aber das ist seit 2013 nicht mehr der Fall. Eine Baubeschreibung im Polderarchiv belegt hinreichend, dass es im Jahr 1819 erbaut wurde. Möglicherweise musste die damals neu gebaute Mühle einen verbrannten oder beschädigten Vorgänger ersetzen.
Aufgrund von Bauvorhaben aller Art wird die Mühle heute zwischen Mehrfamilienhäusern und anderen Gebäuden „eingebaut“. Die Mühle dreht sich noch ab und zu und kann in dieser Zeit meist besichtigt werden.
