    Eine wunderschöne kleine State Reserve direkt am Highway 1 ist Point Lobos, nur wenige Kilometer südlich von Monterey und Carmel im Norden des Big-Sur-Gebiets gelegen. Besonders beeindruckend ist Point Lobos aufgrund seiner enormen Abwechslung: Hier die steil abfallende Küste mit ihren schroffen Klippen, dort die dichten Wälder mit zahlreichen seltenen Pflanzenarten und die seltsamsten Gesteinsstrukturen am Wasser. Und auch Tierfreunde kommen dank Unmengen von Seelöwen und Nagetieren auf ihre Kosten.
