Im Winter halten sich rund 1.200 Exemplare in diesem als Landschafts-, Denkmal- und Naturschutzgebiet offiziell geschützten Gebiet auf.
    Auf den 20 Hektar leben mehr als 100 Vogelarten, von denen Dutzende auch vor Ort brüten, wie etwa der Wald- und Schleiereule, der Sperber und der Bussard. Es gibt einen faszinierenden 2 Kilometer langen Rundgang um die Mauern dieser ehemaligen Militärfestung.
