    Dieses markante Gebäude, aus grauen und roten Ziegeln, wurde zwischen 1894 und 1897 als Verwaltungsgebäude der britischen Kolonialherren errichtet.

    Später beherbergte es die höheren Gerichte des Landes, bis diese nach Putrajaya umgezogen sind.

    Was genau sich heute noch dort befindet? Kein Ahnung, ich konnte es nicht eindeutig herausfinden... ;O)

    Zur Zeit der britischen Kolonialmacht beherbergte der Palast das Federal Secretariat. Das bedeutendste historische Ereignis fand am 31.8.1953 statt. Malaysia erreichte nach langer Zeit der britischen Herrschaft seine Unabhängigkeit zurück. Hier wurde die Erklärung der Unabhängigkeit unterschrieben. Nachdem Malaysia seine Unabhängigkeit erreicht hatte, wurde das Sultan Abdul Samad Building von unterschiedlichen Regierungsstellen genützt. Seit dem Jahre 1909 tagt der Oberste Gerichtshof im Palast. Seit kurzer Zeit befindet sich auch das Textile Museum im Palast.
