    Nether Largie South wurde wahrscheinlich vor über 5.000 Jahren erbaut. Die ursprüngliche Kammer in der Mitte war in vier Abteilungen unterteilt und beherbergte wahrscheinlich im Einklang mit neolithischen Bräuchen zahlreiche Bestattungen.

    Wie die anderen Denkmäler in Kilmartin Glen wurde die Stätte weiterhin als heiliger Ort genutzt. Irgendwann vor etwa 4.000 Jahren wurde der Steinhaufen zu einem 30 m breiten runden Steinhaufen erweitert, um zwei sekundäre Cists oder Steinsärge aufzunehmen – zweifellos, um die Überreste von Häuptlingen unterzubringen.
