    1894 ließ die Hamburger Damara- und Namaqualand Handelsgesellschaft das Woermannhaus bauen. Der vom Architekten Friedrich Höft entworfene Damara-Turm diente als Wasserturm und Navigationspunkt für Schiffe der Woermann-Linie. Der Damaraturm ist öffentlich zugänglich und kann bestiegen werden. Das lohnt aber nur bei schönem Wetter.

    Das "Woermannhaus" wurde von Friedrich Holt 1894 für den Hamburger Spediteur Adolph Woermann im Fachwerk Baustil erbaut. Nachdem es von 1924 bis 1972 als Jugendheim genutzt wurde, renovierte man das Gebäude bis Ende 1976 nachdem es 1971 als Baudenkmal eingestuft wurde.
    Heute beherbergt es eine Bibliothek, eine Touristeninformation und eine Galerie für namibische Künstler.
