Woher hat der Chartreuzenbos seinen Namen? Sehr leicht. Bis zur Französischen Revolution war das Gebiet Eigentum des Kartäuserordens „les pères Chartreux“. Zu dieser Zeit bestand das Gebiet hauptsächlich aus Heideland. Erst später wurde es bewaldet. Heutzutage erholt sich die ehemalige Heidelandschaft auf einer Lichtung mitten im Wald. Im Osten und Nordosten der Domäne bilden steile Hänge den Übergang zum Winge-Tal.
