Embark on a challenging hike through Adamello Park with the Climb to Rifugio Tita Secchi passing through Blumone bivouac — Ring tour. This difficult route covers 9.1 miles (14.6 km) with a significant elevation gain of 3779 feet (1152 metres), typically taking around 6 hours and 56 minutes to complete. You will traverse varied terrain, from dirt roads through meadows to rocky sections requiring easy climbing and occasional use of hands. The trail offers expansive panoramic views, especially from the Cornone di Blumone, and overlooks the enchanting Lago della Vacca near Rifugio Tita Secchi.
This hike demands very good fitness, sure-footedness, sturdy shoes, and alpine experience; it is not recommended if you suffer from vertigo. Be prepared for sections of an old military mule track, some of which may be damaged, and a diagonal traverse over scree that can be snow-covered. The descent, in particular, can be tricky due to unstable stones, so exercise maximum caution. In early summer or with fresh snow, the trail becomes significantly more challenging and may require crampons and ice axes.
The route is notable as a ring tour, providing diverse perspectives of the landscape. You will encounter the welcoming Rifugio Tita Secchi, a great stop for local cuisine, and the rustic, self-managed Blumone bivouac, offering basic shelter in a high-altitude setting. The trail also holds historical significance, passing by ruins of WWI defense lines, and forms a section of the longer Alta Via dell'Adamello (Sentiero numero 601).
