    Der See Slåensø liegt direkt südlich des Sees Borre Sø im Waldgebiet Silkeborg Sønderskov. Durch die begrenzte Wasserzufuhr ist das Wasser sehr sauber.

    Der See liegt in sehr hügeligem Gelände und ist ein beliebtes Ausflugsziel, mit dem Kongestolen (82 m Höhe) unmittelbar südlich des Sees, von dem aus man einen schönen Blick gegen Norden hat. Ganz in der Nähe steht der höchste Baum Dänemarks, eine über 50 m hohe Douglasie. Ein guter Wanderweg führt um den ganzen See herum.
