Die Kapelle ist Maria geweiht , genauer gesagt Unserer Lieben Frau, dem Meeresstern .
Die ersten Baupläne entstanden 1951, als die Statue Unserer Lieben Frau, des Meeressterns, auf ihrer Gnadenreise Winthagen besuchte.
Die Kapelle wurde 1955 erbaut. Am 19. Mai 1955, Christi Himmelfahrt , wurde die Kapelle von Bischof Guillaume Lemmens gesegnet .
Im Mai 2013 wurde in der Kapelle ein Kreuzweg aufgehängt, der vermutlich aus der Wallonie stammt.
