    Die Sankt-Nikolaus-Kirche in Lochristi ist nach dem heiligen Nikolaus von Myra benannt, dem Schutzpatron der Kaufleute, Studenten, Reisenden, Matrosen, minderjährigen Töchter und Gefangenen.
    Der Vierungsturm mit kurzer Schieferspitze wurde im 15. Jahrhundert aus Balegem- und Ledian-Stein gebaut.
    Im Inneren der Kirche finden wir eine Reihe interessanter Möbel und Statuen, darunter die polychrome Holzstatue der Maria, die aus der Kapelle von Lobos gebracht wurde.
    Diese wundersame Marienstatue blieb unversehrt, als die Kirche im Zweiten Weltkrieg bombardiert wurde, obwohl das Altarbild schwer beschädigt wurde.

    Die St.-Nikolaus-Kirche war ursprünglich ein frühgotisches Gebäude aus dem 13. Jahrhundert, wurde aber 1654, 1720 und 1837 umfassend renoviert und neu gestaltet. Dadurch entstand eine klassizistische Kirche mit einem gotischen Mittelturm.

    Rund um die Kirche befinden sich neben dem Kriegerdenkmal auch mehrere zeitgenössische Statuen, darunter die von Reynaert de Vos, Pater Damien und das Blumenbild „Blumenliebhaber“.
