Nachdem die letzten Güterzüge 1990 verkehrten, kamen ab 1994 die Züge der Museumsbahn STAR, so dass die Eisenbahn als Industriedenkmal erhalten bleibt. Während unserer Fahrtage verkehren historische Dampf- und Dieselzüge zwischen Veendam, Stadskanaal und Nieuw Buinen.
