    Hiervon berichten in der Bibel die drei Synoptiker, das heißt alle Evangelisten außer Johannes: Markus (Kapitel 9), Lukas (Kapitel 9), Matthäus (Kapitel 17). In einer Arbeitshilfe des Bibelwerks wird das Ereignis der Transfiguration / Verklärung in folgenden zwei Sätzen zusammengefasst:
