    Die St.-Michael-Kirche der Pfarrei Hekelgem wurde bereits in erwähnt
    aus dem elften Jahrhundert und gehörte zur Burg, vermutlich von Franken
    Herren gebaut. Diese Burg diente als strategische Festung an der Dender Transition. 1977-1978 wurde die Kirche wunderschön restauriert und
    ihnen eine neue Uhr. Der heilige Kornelius wird am zweiten Pfingsttag da sein
    noch geehrt. Zu den Sehenswürdigkeiten gehören: das Schöne
    Kanzel mit kniender Petrus, krähender Hahn mit Engeln
    (1788), Beichtstühle aus Eichenholz mit Marienstatuen (1721) und
    Petrus (1752) und eine polychrome und kürzlich restaurierte Statue von
    Heiliger Kornelius.
