    Dieses Gotteshaus bzw. Einsiedelei "San Michele Arcangelo" wurde dem Erzengel Michael geweiht. Der Name (aus der hebräischen Sprache kommend) bedeutet „Wer ist wie Gott?“. Oftmals wird er – auf Gemälden oder als Statue – mit einem Flammenschwert, gelegentlich auch einer Lanze, dargestellt. Michael ist – zusammen mit Raphael und Gabriel, gelegentlich wird auch Uriel dazu gezählt – einer der drei beziehungsweise vier Erzengel, die (nach menschlicher Vorstellung) in der himmlischen Hierarchie der Engelwesen den höchsten Rang einnehmen. Ihr gemeinsamer Festtag im Heiligenkalender ist der 29. September.
