Es wurde 1612–1614 anstelle des gotischen Tores Brama Długouliczna (Langgassentor) aus dem 13. Jahrhundert errichtet. Es befindet sich an einem Ende der Langgasse (ulica Długa; deutsch: Langgasse) und bildet zusammen mit dem Hohen Tor (Brama Wyżynna) und dem Gefängnisturm (Wieża Więzienna) einen Teil der alten Stadtbefestigung. 1612 und 1614. An gleichem Ort stand zuvor ein Tor aus dem 13. Jahrhundert
im gotischen Baustil. Seit 1648 gibt es am Goldenen Tor auf beiden Seiten
jeweils 4 Statuen. Diese stammen vom Graveur Jeremias Falck. Das Tor wurde
übrigens erst 1957 erneut aufgebaut, da es im Zweiten Weltkrieg beschädigt wurde.
