    In einer einmalig schönen Lage, auf einer Anhöhe mit einer überwältigenden Aussicht auf Latemar, Rosengarten und Schlern entstand etwa im 12. Jahrhundert die Kirche St. Helena.

    Innen verbirgt sich eines der Meisterwerke der Bozener Malerschule aus dem 15. Jahrhundert. Viele der wunderbaren Wandmalereien sind noch sehr gut erhalten, vor allem im Inneren in der Apsis und in den Gewölben.

    Die Fassade der Kirche zeigt eine Darstellung des St. Christophorus und auf der Südwand befinden sich interessante Abbildungen der Maria mit Jesuskind sowie der drei Jungfrauen Katharina, Barbara und Margaretha.

    Kaum jemand, der am St. Helena Kirchlein bei Deutschnofen vorbei kommt, wird wohl nicht überrascht sein über die kunsthistorischen Gemälde im Kirchlein, die hier, in dieser abgeschiedenen Lage, eigentlich niemand vermutet.
    Die Fresken im Inneren des St. Helena Kirchleinszählen zu den wertvollsten Zeugnissen der Hochgotik aus dem frühen 15. Jahrhundert. Besonders in der Langhauswölbung sind die Fresken sehr gut erhalten.
