    Am Vista Point hat man einen schönen Blick über den Mono Lake. Als riesiges Binnenmeer füllt der See ein natürliches Becken mit einer Größe von über 180 Quadratkilometern. Das markanteste Merkmal des Mono Lake sind seine Tuffsteintürme – mineralische Strukturen, die entstehen, wenn Süßwasserquellen durch das alkalische Wasser des Sees sprudeln. Das salzige Wasser des Sees ernährt auch Billionen von Salinenkrebsen und zieht Millionen von Zugvögeln an, die sich an ihnen laben.

    Der Aussichtspunkt ist ein paar Meter die kleine Hügelstraße hinauf. Im Winter / Frühling und Herbst ist dies das einzige offene Lebensmittelgeschäft in der Region, selbst im Sommer ist es wahrscheinlich der am besten zugängliche Ort, um sich vom PCT zu versorgen, abgesehen von den überteuerten Optionen rund um die Touloumne Meadows. Es ist einfach, mit einem Touristen hierher zu fahren und wieder hochzufahren.
