    Tilgate Lake ist der größte der drei Seen im Tilgate Park. Es ist ein beliebter Wassersportsee mit vielen anderen Aktivitäten auf und um ihn herum.

    Die Menschheitsgeschichte reicht hier bis in die Mittelsteinzeit zurück, als hier Feuersteinwerkzeuge hergestellt wurden. In jüngerer Zeit war das Gebiet im 17. Jahrhundert ein königlicher Wildpark und ab 1647 Tilgate Manor Estate. In jüngerer Zeit gehörte es BT und der See wurde für private Angelausflüge verkauft. Der Crawley Urban District Council kaufte das Gebiet in den 1960er Jahren und es ist jetzt für die Öffentlichkeit zugänglich.
