    Das Fort entstand in den Jahren 1909 bis 1914 und sollte eine Invasion verhindern. Nach 1918 wurde das Fort umgebaut, Bewaffnung ausgetauscht, Belüftung und Notausgänge angepasst.
    Während des Zweiten Weltkriegs nutzte die deutsche Wehrmacht das Fort als Lager. Nach der Befreiung diente es der US-Armee als Flugabwehrzentrum gegen die V1-Raketen.
    Im Jahr 1947 schließlich endete der kriegerische Zweck des Forts und es ging in Privatbesitz über.
    Heute ist es Heimstatt für etwa 1.300 Fledermäuse. An bestimmten Tagen und nach Vereinbarung kannst du es im Rahmen einer geführten Tour besichtigen.
