The Drau cycle path is the longest, most beautiful and most varied cycle path through all of Carinthia. It begins at Toblacher Feld, where the Drau rises, and leads through East Tyrol, along the Drautal. Spittal an der Drau, Villach, Ferlach, Völkermarkt and Lavamünd are the most important stops. At Lavamünd the cycle path leaves Carinthia in the direction of Slovenia. You can experience it in full on two or possibly three day tours.

Of course, a trip around the Völkermarkt reservoir is part of a holiday in the Völkermarkt region.
Our first short stop was at the Kleinsee right next to the Klopeiner See. The night before we were there on foot, but you can't see much in the dark. Seen in daylight, a nice lake.

The Drau cycle path is a great challenge for trained e-bike riders. Cycle path partially closed, diversion poorly signposted - leads to a busy federal highway. Tour suggestion from Google Maps ends in mud chaos in the forest. The closed section of the Drau cycle path is passable - with small construction sites. So: Don't be impressed by barriers!
