Historic buildings in the old town include a street market established in the early 13th century, well-preserved city fortifications, a Renaissance town hall (1543), the parish church of St. Martin, a market fountain with a Roland statue (1577), half-timbered houses, and the Kastenhof courtyard with the North JURA Museum and tourist information.
Weismain is also a convenient starting point for day trips to Banz Abbey, the Vierzehnheiligen Basilica, Coburg, Kulmbach, Bamberg, or Bayreuth, as well as to Franconian Switzerland, the Fichtel Mountains, or the Franconian Forest.
