Next to the Old Love is the semaphore - not a modern work of art, but a signal from the year 1884. The semaphore, whose name comes from the Greek and means "sign bearer", showed the passing ships wind strength and wind direction, namely the islands Borkum and Heligoland.

Cykling
For the first system from 1883/84, the mast of the ship "Aurora", which was stranded in the Lower Elbe, was used, presumably for cost reasons. The second plant, which went into operation at the end of 1904, was built as a steel structure and has been preserved unchanged to this day.
