The city of Wertheim looks back on an eventful past. Located at the mouth of Tauber in the Main, it is the northernmost city in Baden-Wuerttemberg. Kreuzwertheim, on the other side of the Main, is already in Bavaria. Especially worth seeing are the castle and the old town. On the Main Promenade you can enjoy a delicious ice cream and watch the passing pleasure boats. Even a break at the Tauber can be very refreshing.

For a really worthwhile two euros you get access to the entire castle area and you can also see more of the ruins. The highlight, however, is the castle tower: from its top you can see over the city and a large part of the valley. The view is really fantastic and the tower can also be accessed at night, although it is a bit dimly lit.

Wertheim Castle is one of the most beautiful and largest castle ruins in Germany. Impressive is the magnificent view over the old town with the river landscapes of Main and Tauber. The landmark of the town Wertheim is one of the most popular destinations between Spessart and Odenwald.
