In 1775 the building was first mentioned as the Royal Forester's House in Bestensee. It was built by Frederick the Great, King of Prussia, and served as the seat of his forester. Because it was a royal building, it had to stand out from other buildings. That is why the bars and clay surfaces were given color, because color was a symbol of wealth in those days. This building in Bestensee is in its entirety the oldest surviving forester's house in the state of Brandenburg. For many years it was left to decay.
