Great place to visit - remember that you need to walk your bike through the park. Plenty of salmon in the fish ladder, and plenty of sea lions and seals trying to catch an easy meal. And... lots of nervous boaters going in and out of the locks. The small lock has the most activity, lots of small fishing vessels and long stories from the fishermen about their luck on the water...

Ballard Locks is the busiest locking system in the country and one of Seattle's most iconic tourist attractions. Small kayaks and boats as large as 760 feet can travel through, which you can see through a swinging walkway system. A fish ladder is here where you can watch salmon and steelhead heading upstream to spawn.

Yeah, yeah... Iconic Seattle landmark, fun to see the boats go up and down, interesting to see the fish swimming up the fish ladders and the sea lions trying to catch them before they get through, lots of summer weekend concerts in the gardens, pretty flowers, and interesting museum, blah blah blah... So touristy and yet so much fun to visit. Worth a stop - but be aware you must dismount and walk your bike on the premises - and getting across the small lock on the narrow walkway can be a bit tight. Still, go visit. It's worth it.
