The station in Leer was built in 1855. It links the Emsland route Rheine - Emden - Norddeich Mole with the route Oldenburg - Leer. Another route to Groningen has not been in operation since 2015 due to a shipwreck and the resulting damaged railway bridge over the Ems.

At one end of the pedestrian zone we meet the station building with its historically typical facade. Inside there is a bakery shop and a well-stocked magazine shop. So it has almost everything a train station needs.

If you arrive here with bicycles on the train 🚃, it is very difficult to get off the tracks with the bicycles.
