Except for the refined Renaissance portal, the church was built in a flamboyant Gothic style. It is dedicated to Saint Willibrordus, apostle of the Low Countries (7th century). The walls of the nave are covered with 17th century wood carvings. Eye-catchers are the confessionals, the organ case, some funerary monuments, including the very expressive medallion portrait of the governor of Gravelines, who died during the siege of Saint-Venant in 1657. the cistern, a water reservoir from the 18th century, is connected to the church by a arcade. The pumps have fittings in the shape of dolphins.

The name of St. Willibrord derives from an Irish missionary. According to legend, he arrived here in the 7th century and founded the parish of St. Willibrord. As the settlement grew around the abbey, around 1190 the community built a first chapel at this location, which was replaced by the current church in 1598.
