From January 2000 to December 2001, a pumping station was built in the immediate vicinity of the Ledas barrier. The pumping station, which was planned and built by the Niedersächsische Landesbetrieb für Wasserwirtschaft, Küsten- und Naturschutz (NLWKN), has a pumping capacity of 40 m³ / s. Thus, just under 3.5 million cubic meters of water per day, which is slightly more than the total capacity of the Leeraner Speicherpolders, can be pumped out of the area behind the barrage.
