The Helper Mill is named after the Helpman polder that he drained from 1863. In the 1960s the mill was out of use and fell into disrepair. In 1971 it was moved to its current location on the Paterswoldsemeer. The mill is now used for drainage for water circulation of the ditches next to the lake.
It is a wonderful place to enjoy the view over the lake on one of the benches on a sunny day.

The Paterswoldsemeer is 270 hectares, including the Hoornsemeer, and was created in the 16th and 17th centuries by the extraction of peat.

"The Helper" is a polder mill on the eastern shore of the Paterswoldsemeer.
The mill was built in 1863 to drain the Helpman Polder. The mill was permanently shut down in the sixties of the twentieth century and decayed. Due to the expansion of the city of Groningen and the construction of the A28 in 1969, the mill was demolished at its original location and rebuilt in 1971 at the Paterswoldsemeer.
