This isn't a tip, just a funny story:
The ferry was docked, but looked deserted. A woman sat engrossed in a book in the waiting room.
When I asked if the ferry was running, she said, "If it's not broken, it's running."
I checked my smartphone for an alternative, then asked if she wanted to cross as well, to which she replied, "I have to." At that point, I had a glimmer of hope that the ferry would be running.
A while later, she closed her book and said, "Come with me," boarded the ferry, and started the engine.
