According to the State Office for Surveying and Geo-Basic Information, Bärenbach was officially declared the geographical center of the country on December 1, 1982 by then Prime Minister Bernhard Vogel. The ceremonial inauguration of the boulder with a stone slab took place on July 23, 1983.

Vandring
Adjacent to the geographical center of Rhineland-Palatinate there is a beautiful festival/leisure hall with a covered fireplace. The leisure area can be rented from the municipality of Bärenbach.
