Candi Singhasari/Singosari is a Hindu-Buddhist temple from the Kingdom of Singosari in East Java, located about 10 km from the city of Malang. The unfinished temple and two colossal statues are the remnants of the kingdom, which played a significant role in East Java during the 13th century and was absorbed into the Majapahit Empire in 1294.
At its height, Singosari was so powerful that the Mongol Emperor Kublai Khan sent a special envoy to the Singosari court to demand allegiance from King Kertanegara, which the king vehemently refused.
