In the southern part of the border between Thimphu and Paro lies the confluence of the Pachu and Thimchu rivers. This location is therefore known as Chuzom, the confluence of the two rivers. It is also the junction of roads leading to Thimphu, Paro, Haa, and Chukha. A large checkpoint for the Forestry Department, police, and immigration authorities is located there. A bridge spanning the confluence, connecting Paro and Haa to the highways from Thimphu to Chukha, was built in the 1960s along with the roads and last extended to its current form in the 1990s.

On our way from Punakha to Paro, we made a brief stop in Chuzom, the confluence of two rivers: the Wong Chu and the Paro Chu. You can see the confluence from a bridge and the individual rivers flowing away on the other side.
Such a confluence of rivers is considered unlucky by the Bhutanese, and therefore four chortens were built here to ward off evil. These chortens are in different styles: Bhutanese, Nepalese, Ladakhi, and Tibetan.
