Alvar Aalto was one of the 63 architects who in 1957 were responsible for the numerous new buildings of the Berlin Hansaviertel. The Finn is described in many Nordic countries as the "Father of Modernism" and is a pioneer of Finnish architecture. The Aalto skyscraper in Hansaviertel radiates then as today - in contrast to many other of the new houses - simple, but beautiful in a uniform white.
