Ludza is the oldest city in Latvia (city rights since 1777). Ludza is a city of Latgale in a picturesque area, with a lovely old town that is built along the lake, with ruins of a medieval castle in the city center, a church on the top of the hill, lovely wooden and brick one-story, and two-story houses with closed backyards on narrow streets.
