The Waterford Hills Road Racing Course is a significant historical landmark located on the grounds of the Oakland County Sportsmen's Club. Established in 1958, it is one of the oldest road racing venues in the United States and the only one of its kind in Southeast Michigan. Its challenging, hilly layout with undulating corners and blind crests has earned it a reputation as a 'driver's track,' even hosting Formula One driver Sir Stirling Moss in 1961.

Waterford Hill has a rich history tied to several notable figures. John Wheeler Beardslee was an early land purchaser in Independence Township. Stephen Moon owned a significant portion of the north side, giving rise to the name Moon Valley. Moses Beardslee operated a large apple farm and cider mill in the 1870s. Later, Ernest W. Seaholm, a prominent figure from Cadillac cars, owned part of the hill and was responsible for planting many of the pine trees seen today.
