Deep in the Vértes forest you’ll find a row of square concrete bunkers, their exact past is bit of a mystery. Likely linked to Cold War–era military activity, today they feel like forgotten ruins hidden among the trees — eerie, atmospheric, and perfect for explorers. 🌲🕰️

Some of the renovated bunkers of the Vértes fortress system near Körtvélyespuszta. The machine gun pedestals can still be discovered today, and even the metal bases on which they were used to move them between two bunkers. Unfortunately, I have no idea when they were built and when they were in use, but if anyone knows, please comment.
