Voices from the Springs
The Village Fridge
Ένα τσουβάλι μπάμιες & δέκα ζευγάρια αγγούρια
One sack of okra & ten pairs of cucumbers.
Assembly of Armeni for the Springs
Chavouza, the natural refrigerator of Armeni, where fruit and vegetables were chilled. The old national road passed through here. Buses would stop and load up fresh produce, gardening goods that travelled as far as Heraklion. Today, the noise from the massive trucks of a private water company is cloaked in laughter and conversation.
