The village is ancient in origin, mentioned as early as 1500 together with the Nikolskaya, still wooden, church. It was the grand ducal patrimony of Mikhail Fyodorovich Pozharsky, and in 1621 it was transferred to his son Dmitry Mikhailovich. From local church documents it is clear that the church was in honor of the holy and miracle worker Nikolay and was called Nikolskaya; the building was wooden, with a wooden bell tower. This church existed until 1800, when the currently existing stone church was rebuilt and consecrated.
