The Koppelpoort is part of the old defensive wall of Amersfoort. It is the only and last to cross the water. There used to be a lot of them in old Dutch cities, but over time they have all disappeared. Fortunately not this one, special and quite beautiful!

The Koppelpoort is a unique combination of a land gate and a water gate, the only one in the Netherlands. This dates from ca 1425 and is part of the second wall of the city.
