The fortified church in AlmaVii (Almen) dates back to the 14th century and was expanded into a fortified church in the 16th century. It is located on a hill in Transylvania and was restored by the Mihai Eminescu Trust. According to legend, the place name derives from Alma – the wife of a watchman who once warned the village of an attack. Today, the castle serves as a cultural center with Baroque furnishings.
