The Rapture - Place de la Libération
Work by Auguste Suchetet in white marble
This statue, made in 1907, depicts the Rapture of Proserpine (the abduction of Coré by the god Hades in Roman mythology).
The original bronze version was cast in 1942 at the request of the Germans.
A marble cast had already been made and was kept in the Petit Palais in Paris. The city of Troyes then requested the return of this cast, which was returned to its original location in front of the prefecture of Troyes at the end of 1949.
