Roman Catholic parish church belonging to the Chełm – East deanery of the Archdiocese of Lublin.
It is a neo-Gothic church designed by architect Józef Pius Dziekoński. The founder of the church was Maria née Jełowickich Orsetii, owner of the Świerżów estate.
Construction lasted from 1907 to 1909.
The church survived World War I without major damage. However, it was constantly exposed to floods of the Bug River. Therefore, a dam was built to separate the church from the river.
After minor damage during World War II, the building was quickly renovated.
