The castle originated from an upper farm of the St. Pantaleon Monastery in Cologne, first documented in 1085. Its administrator was the von Eickel family, first documented in 1225. By 1613, Eickel Castle was said to have become a quarry for the villagers.
In 1875/76, during the straightening of the Königstraße, the former moat was filled in, the last visible trace of Haus Eickel, and the last residential building there was demolished.
