Founded in 1984, the Cartagena de Indias History Museum is housed in a beautifully restored 18th-century colonial building, the so-called Inquisition Palace (Palacio de la Inquisición). This impressive building served as the headquarters of the Spanish Inquisition in Cartagena during the colonial period and is now a city landmark. The building is a remarkable example of colonial architecture, featuring a striking facade with ornate balconies, arches, and intricate carvings.
