There is no documented mention of the church. Based on the visible details and stone carvings found during the excavation, the church was built around 1260-70 on the foundations of a Roman building. Its rich decoration made it stand out from the simple village churches. The main facade was decorated with a fresco depicting Saint Christopher (Rómer). According to Zádor, its former sanctuary is unknown, as the current sacristy is located together with the later XIV century. The church and village were destroyed after the fall of Veszprém in 1552, when the Turks ravaged the Balaton Highlands.
