There are very few sources of water in this low-lying section of the Arizona Trail. With a bit of luck, water gallons can be found in the supply box at Forest Road 4, which can only be reached with good SUVs.

There are few sources of water on this low section of the Arizona Trail. With a bit of luck there were water gallons in the supply box at Forest Road 4, which could only be reached by good off-road vehicles. Therefore, a rainwater collector was installed in 2019 halfway between the Gila River and Picketpost Trailhead and the supply box at FR 4 was removed.
